I am looking at a 1997 John Deere 855 MFWD with a 72" mid mount belley mower. Asking price is $12,800. Unit has 900 hours and appears to be in good shape. Loking for comments on the price as well as the performance and owners satisfaction of the JD855.

I bought a ford 1620 with hydro and 72 inch deck last winter with 641 hrs. I think these are very similar machines and I paid $10,000. mine is older (1992) but less hrs. Mine was mint condition. Good luck. ....

Rob,Good news that you found an 855 to buy, have faith the machine is well tested and almost 'bullet proof' in my book. I manage sales for a Deere dealer in Illinois, I have sold alot of these machines and would let the tractor out of the dealership new for 13,900 all day long. The belly mower is a couple of thousand more, so to answer your question, 12,800 is TOO much for the hours on the machine, with 200 300 yeah you bet but not with 800. Don't get me wrong 800 is far from worn out (that's about 3000 in case you were wondering) BUT about 11,000 would be fair. Good Luck. JAY ....
